From a small trading company to a leading supplier of die forming tools and machine parts in the metalworking industry

Founded in 1994, WSD, initially a purely trading company, in the course of its development became a supplier of tools for cold and hot forming of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, brass and other alloys in horizontal and vertical multi-station pressing machines.

The company’s origins can be traced back to a rented factory hall and an office container with just two employees. Due to the dynamic development, a former furniture warehouse in an industrial area in Gotha was acquired in 1998 and gradually rebuilt for the company’s own needs.
In the early 2000s, the need to create our own production facilities became obvious.

By 2006, we had established production facilities in a joint venture in India. In 2010, we began forming our own machine park in Gotha. Since then, WSD has been able to offer a complete range of cold and hot forming tools.

Today the Gotha location houses 2,000 square meters of modern production space, warehouse and office. We plan to double the area and have already taken the first step in this direction by purchasing the appropriate land plot.

Continuous investments in the company’s infrastructure to optimize all processes, such as logistics, digitalization and modern quality assurance, are the key to our competitiveness today and in the future.

ENVIROMENTAL FRIENDLINESS

Eco-friendliness plays an important role in our daily lives. We not only take environmentally friendly technical measures by reducing waste, improving the insulation of our buildings or reusing waste heat energy. We also have a flower meadow, our own beehives and a small orchard on site.

PERSPECTIVES

All planning for the future equipment, orientation, and organization of our company is dominated by the opportunities and challenges of digitalization and AI!
This affects all company processes: from order processing and materials management to accounting, from logistics to leave requests.

Last year, the entire quality assurance as well as the warehouse and logistics sector were modernized according to the latest standards and prepared for integration into the new ERP system. This process was successfully completed in 2024, and all areas are now fully digitized.

The office building 2 was also completely modernized in 2024 and stands out in particular for its extensive greenery, creating a wonderful room atmosphere.

All workplaces at WSD are now equipped according to the latest ergonomic guidelines!

For 2025, the acquisition of new additional machines for production in Gotha is planned, including a CNC 5-axis milling machine, wire EDM machine, start-hole drill, and external cylindrical grinding machine. Quality assurance will be enhanced with additional measuring microscopes and optical measuring machines.

For 2025/26, the planning and installation of a photovoltaic system with corresponding storage units, wall boxes, etc., is scheduled.
